Purpose gives endurance. That’s not just a spiritual idea—it’s real, practical truth.
Jesus endured the cross because He had the end in mind. He saw past the pain, the betrayal, the weight of it all—because He saw you. The joy that was set before Him gave Him the strength to push through the darkest process in human history.
In your own life, you carry a certain level of skill, wisdom, and knowledge. You know how to do some things well and that’s important. But it’s not everything. Your emotional state plays a huge role in your decision making. If you’re unstable internally, your strategy won’t matter.
This is something Dr. Lance Wallnau teaches powerfully. He talks about how your personal capacity, your inner life, will determine your ability to fulfill your assignment. It’s not just about building the right plan; it’s about learning the art of the heart.
Your heart affects your endurance. You need peace and joy, not just when life is calm, but especially when things are hard.
Here are a few truths to hold onto:
- Cast your cares on Him. Trying to carry everything alone will drain you. Offload your worries at the feet of Jesus daily. That’s not weakness. That’s wisdom.
- Know where you are emotionally. Be honest. Your mood influences your mindset, and your mindset affects your choices. Stay self-aware.
- Stay humble. You’re not going to be great at everything. That’s okay. Laugh at yourself. Keep learning. Don’t let pride steal your peace.
- Protect your joy. God desires His people to live with deep, lasting joy. Jesus Himself said in John 15:11, “I have told you these things so that My joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.” Even in trials, God offers joy as strength, as Nehemiah 8:10 reminds us, “The joy of the Lord is your strength.”
Remember that purpose is not just about what you do, it’s about how you carry it. If your heart isn’t anchored, your life will be chaotic no matter how perfect your plan is.
Grow your capacity. Guard your emotions. Stay grounded in peace.
This is the art of the heart.
